I have been with Prints Factory for about years. I have been serving contractors and industrial enterprises with workwear uniforms. I initially thought it was all about designs and colors. Oh man, I couldn’t be more wrong. It dawned on me when I visited some of these construction sites and talked with some of these workers who wear these types of clothing on a daily basis.
About Me: I work with Prints Factory, helping businesses with selecting business uniform designs. I am no safety professional but have some knowledge compiled from customers on what works and what doesn’t on a worksite.
What Finally Made Me Get on Board with Workwear Uniforms Programs
So, let me tell you what finally made me get on board with uniform programs at work. I went to a site, and they had a proper uniform with reflective strips. I went on another site, and anyone would have worn anything. It made a massive difference with regards to how they were organized and looked. But what struck me more, even more so than that, is that they had fewer near misses with equipment.
A contractor shared with me that he noticed he could get better rates on insurance once he put a workwear uniforms program into place. It would appear that your insurance company picks up on it too, as they know you are serious about safety too. That was an eye-opening experience about safety and more as it relates to your uniform.
“What I Have Learned About the Benefits of Workwear Uniforms”
| Uniforms | Before Uniforms | After Uniforms | What I Notice |
| Organization Appearance | Looks disorganized | Looks professional | Organization Effect on Clients |
| Morale | Lower engagement | Higher pride | Better team dynamics |
| Incidents Changes | More near misses | Fewer near misses | Improved safety |
As what contractors have shared with me.
Personal Experience Regarding Quality of Embroidered Workwear
I’m the first one to admit I thought embroidered workwear sounded like a luxury feature myself. I looked at these uniform shirts after they’d been put to work hard for six months. The screen printing designs were all cracked and faded, but it looked like no designs were ever done on an embroidery uniform. I highly recommend embroidered workwear if your workplace works hard every day.
Yes, there’s a slight additional cost involved with embroidery uniforms, but once I show customers exactly how much longer these will last, they end up choosing the embroidered option. A facility manager once told me, “Your embroidery tips saved us money because we’re no longer constantly ordering new faded uniforms.”
Embroidered vs. Screen-Printed Apparel: A Cost Comparison
It’s really with work clothes with embroidery that you can make a difference. I have seen workers washing their clothes several times a week, and with embroidery, it will still be intact, but with printing, it will be peeling apart. I personally believe that with it being an additional $4-6 per unit, it’s what you want with your labor clothes.
My Message To Companies Regarding Personalized Workwear
Personalized workwear with employees’ names will also promote accountability. The site managers have been telling me that it will be easier for them to know ‘who is doing what’ because everyone’s name will be on the uniform. Employees will also be more careful with their own names on their attire.
I recall a business with warehouses, and they implemented personalized workwear. A decrease in thefts of equipment because employees could see who they were working with was noticed by the business owner. I haven’t thought about it on my own, but it all makes sense once you connect the dots.
Some Elementary Advice I Have on Work Attire:
First, here are some basics: A good workwear uniforms program doesn’t have to be overly complex. Get the basics before reaching for all the frills.
Skimp on quality. I have seen too much money wasted on finding the cheapest uniform they could and then buying them multiple sets. It costs a bit more money—and about 15 dollars per uniform will make it last three times as long.
Commonly Asked Questions about Custom-Made Working Apparel
“Do laborers really like seeing their names on these uniforms?” “Most people do,” I have noticed. It personalizes them as individuals, not just as members of the crew. “But what if an employee quits?” That’s why I recommended a couple of extras be ordered with the blanks.
My previous work experience has been with Prints Factory, as an assistant for respective business enterprises on workwear uniforms orders. All that I have put forth here has been gathered through various conversations with customers and what works on site.
So if you are contemplating implementing a uniform program at your business, I would be happy to discuss some things I have done at my end that have worked well and we can walk through some specific options that would be applicable at your end.
